Our History
Voice for Equity (formerly known as Initiative and Advocacy for Orphans Development –IAOD) is a refugee-led, non- profit organization established on May 25, 2022, in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Turkana County, Kenya.
We are dedicated to advocating for equity, inclusion, and empowerment among marginalized communities, including orphans, vulnerable youth, school dropouts, minority groups, and underserved populations.
Our work combines education, mentorship, community engagement, and systemic advocacy to build a society where every person, regardless of their background or circumstances, can thrive.

AJABNA HASSAN KUKU
Founder and Executive Director at Voice for Equity. I hold a bachelor of Arts in Business Management and 13 years of experience in leadership and community engagement across different sectors. I am an education advocate and community
leader, working to expand access to education and promote sustainability in marginalized communities’ development, Now Working at the capacity of Secretary of the Board of the Director’s at Voice for Equity.
JAILI ABDALLA
I am Jaili Abdalla Kafi Sudanese, Co-founder and Program Manager at Voice for Equity. I am a
fourth-year Psychology student (minor in Health Psychology) with 11 years of leadership
experience across community, school, and university levels. I also mentor high school students, supporting them to improve their lives through education. Now Working at the of capacity Chairperson of the Board of the Director’s at Voice for Equity.
DANIEL ABUI
I am Daniel Abui Miakol, a South Sudanese educator and community leader in Kakuma Refugee Camp. I serve as a volunteer teacher and mentor, supporting student learning and community
development. I am passionate about women’s rights and social impact, working to advance
education and technology to empower underserved communities. Now Working at the capacity of Vice Chairperson of the Board of the Director’s at Voice for Equity.
ASTRID BRAND
I am Astrid Brand, a finance professional with 25 years of Wall Street experience. I began my career at Morgan Stanley in 2006 and previously served as a director, overseeing 200+ offices while reporting to the President and CEO. I am also an active volunteer at Morgan Stanley
Children’s Hospital, New York Presbyterian, Weill Cornell Medical Center and Columbia University Medical Center, pioneers in the healthcare
industry and leaders in medical education, groundbreaking research, and
innovative patient care. I am deeply committed to make an impact by leveraging my experience in Philanthropy, Financial Literacy, Diversity, Art,
Mental Health Awareness and Sustainable Infrastructure/Development. Now working at the capacity of Fundraising, Partnerships and resource Mobilization and Advisors of the Board of Director at Voice for Equity
FARHAN AHMED
Farhan Ahmed is a Somali a Gen AI fundraising expert based in Kakuma, Kenya, with experience
leading 200+ campaigns to help organizations secure funding. He combines AI tools with
strategy and has a background in education, community engagement, and leadership.
